Dive Responsibly: The SSI Code

Protect our waters. The SSI Responsible Diver Code raises diver awareness of environmental issues and encourages action. Integrated into all our digital training.

Diving with Environmental Awareness: Be an Ocean Ambassador

As a diver, you are an ambassador for the ocean. Protect the environment by acting consciously. Inspire others through positive behavior and action. Support organizations dedicated to marine conservation. Safely clean up trash during dives and remove lost fishing gear. Report large nets that you cannot remove. Avoid consuming endangered marine animals and report the sale of protected species.

Respect the Underwater World: Your Behavior Makes a Difference

Protect the fragile underwater world by acting consciously. Swim or snorkel with respect for the reef and never touch corals. Use designated entry and exit points and avoid kicking up sand or sediment. Respect underwater life: do not hunt, disturb or feed animals. Leave souvenirs at sea and place a reef hook only in safe areas. Do not disturb life or habitat for photos.

Sustainable Diving: Conscious Choices for a Clean Ocean

Sustainability begins with small, conscious choices. Shower only as long as necessary, especially in areas with water scarcity. Clean your diving equipment in designated bins and limit thorough cleanings to the end of your trip. Save energy by turning off lights when they are not needed and choose sustainable transportation. Reduce waste by planning and using shopping lists. Every little step counts!
