MEDICAL STATEMENT

Why a Medical Certificate is Necessary

The underwater environment poses unique demands on your body. Pressure differentials, breathing compressed air, and the physical effort of swimming can impact your well-being underwater. To dive safely, you must be physically capable of handling these conditions. A medical certificate helps confirm that you do not have any health problems that could make diving risky. This is not only important for your safety but also for the safety of your diving partner.

Filling out the Medical Certificate

For all diving activities, from Try Scuba Diving to SSI Courses and Specialties, a careful self-evaluation is required using a questionnaire. This questionnaire is designed to identify any health risks during diving. You must answer all questions honestly. If you can answer all questions with 'no', no further action is necessary. However, if you answered 'yes' to any of the questions, it is advisable to print the form and schedule a consultation with a (diving) doctor.

How to Obtain the Medical Certificate

Obtaining your medical certificate is simple. You do not need to send it directly to the diving organization. You can create an account on the SSI website - see link - and fill out the medical questionnaire there. If you receive medical clearance from the doctor, you can easily upload the documentation to your account. It is a simple step that is essential for your safety underwater.

No Medical Certificate, No Dive

It is important to emphasize that without a valid medical certificate, participating in diving activities is not possible. This rule ensures the safety of all involved. It is a crucial step in the preparation process for every diver, whether experienced or beginner.
