Would you like to learn to dive without unfamiliar students in your group? With our VIP SSI Open Water course in Curaçao, you complete the full course on your own, with your partner, family or your own party and one dedicated SSI instructor.
The course content and certification are the same as with every official SSI Open Water course. The difference is in the way you learn: more personal, more relaxed and fully tailored to your party.
You complete the theory at home in advance through MySSI . In Curaçao, you then complete four Open Water dives, with your dedicated instructor staying with you throughout the entire course.
No large group. No unfamiliar students. Instead, you receive all the attention you need to learn to dive properly and with confidence.
You learn the same essential basic skills every Open Water Diver needs, with the flexibility to spend extra time on anything you find difficult or challenging.
Does someone in your party need a little more time for an exercise? There is no need to move on because another group is ready to continue. We take the time you need and then continue at a relaxed pace.

Complete the digital preparation at home in advance. This is followed by two private practical training days in the ocean. We deliberately schedule a maximum of two Open Water dives per day. After each dive, we return to our dive center for a debriefing, look together at which fish and other marine life we saw and log the dive in the MySSI app.
We start at 08:00 at Duikcentrum van de Ven, Caracasbaaiweg 360 in Jan Thiel.
View our location on Google Maps →Before coming to the dive center, complete the digital SSI theory and exam at home through MySSI. This allows us to focus entirely on the practical training during your private course.
After every course dive we log the dive together in the MySSI app. Please install the app on your phone in advance.
If you answer one or more medical questions with yes? Then medical clearance from a physician is required before you can participate in diving activities.
We start calmly. Your dedicated instructor goes through the equipment with you and first gives you time to get comfortable with breathing, moving and using the equipment underwater. We do not start with exercises immediately.
Once everyone feels comfortable, we build up the first skills step by step and continue the same water session as a course dive.
After the first dive, we return to Duikcentrum van de Ven. There we debrief the dive: what went well, what would you like to repeat and what will we build on during the next dive?
Then we look together at which fish and other marine life we saw and log the dive in the MySSI-app.
Then we take approximately a one-hour break. Bring your own snack or lunch; you can keep it in our refrigerator. Coffee, tea and water are free of charge.
We deliberately schedule no more than two course dives in one day. This leaves enough time for rest, explanations and personal guidance.
During the second dive, we continue working on control, buoyancy and confidence. Because the course is completely private, we can spend extra time on anything you would like to practice again.
After this dive, we also return to the dive center for a debriefing, look together at what we saw underwater and log the dive in MySSI.
The first two Open Water dives go to a maximum depth of 12 metres.
On the second practical training day, we build on day 1. You apply familiar skills more independently and continue working on buoyancy, buddy procedures, navigation and dive planning.
After the third dive, we return to the dive center again. We debriefen, look together at which fish and other marine life we saw and log the dive in the MySSI-app.
Then we take approximately a one-hour break before starting the fourth and final course dive.
During the fourth dive, you bring together everything you have learned. You apply the skills more independently and demonstrate that you can dive safely and in control.
After the final dive, we return to the dive center for the final debriefing. We also log this dive together in the MySSI-app and look at which fish and other marine life we encountered.
Depending on age, progress and conditions, the depth during the final course dives can gradually increase to a maximum of 18 metres.
Once you have successfully completed the theory, exam and all four Open Water dives, you receive your official SSI Open Water Diver certification.
Your digital certification and logbook are then available in the MySSI-app .
After four course dives, you will naturally be ready to simply enjoy diving. No more exercises, no more skills to complete: just head out to the reef with a private guide and enjoy what Curaçao has to offer underwater.
After your course, book a VIP Guided Dive and immediately use your new certification for what you earned it for: diving!
For your private course, we make sure the equipment, materials, planning and guidance are all ready for you.

Learning to dive is different for everyone. One person may feel at home underwater immediately, while another may need a little more time to get comfortable. With a VIP course, that is not a problem.
You have one dedicated instructor who knows how the previous dives went and where extra attention may be needed during the next dive.
An additional SSI instructor joins specifically with a camera, while your own instructor remains fully focused on your guidance and safety.

Yes. The VIP course is specifically designed for your own party. You take the course together and no unfamiliar students are added to your course.

No. All practical exercises and course dives take place directly in the Open Water of Curaçao. We choose calm and suitable locations for this.

Yes. An additional professional can join the dive to take photos and videos, allowing your own instructor to remain fully focused on the course. The current VIP rate is $ 59 / XCG 100 per dive.
No. The SSI Open Water Diver course is designed for beginners. You learn everything from the basics.
Yes. You complete the medical questionnaire in advance. If you answer one or more questions with yes, medical clearance from a physician may be required before you can dive.
The Open Water course is available from age 10. Age-related depth limits apply to young divers.
After earning your certification, you can dive within the limits of your certification and experience. Many new divers choose to first make another guided dive and then possibly continue with Advanced Open Water or a specialty.
