During the course, you complete five Open Water dives during which you discover different diving experiences and skills.
Among other things, you learn how to handle greater depths and gain experience with different types of diving under the guidance of an SSI instructor.
We explain everything calmly, take the time needed for the exercises and make sure you understand what you are doing and why.
Afterwards, you will have gained experience diving to a maximum depth of 30 metres, within the limits of your certification, experience and the prevailing diving conditions.
You build on your Open Water foundation and gain new experience and skills during five Open Water dives.
Navigation and the deep dive are required components. You then choose three additional dives that match your interests.

With a VIP Advanced Open Water Course, you dive exclusively with your own party. This means your instructor does not have to accommodate unfamiliar students or a standard group pace.

Your VIP Advanced Open Water Course starts at our dive center in Jan Thiel. From here, we leave for the five Open Water dives in Curaçao.

If you answer one or more questions with yes a physician’s clearance is required before you can participate in the diving activities.
The SSI Advanced Open Water course consists of five Open Water dives. You build on what you learned during your Open Water training and are introduced to new skills and different types of diving.
Navigation is a required component of the Advanced Open Water course. You further improve your underwater orientation and practise setting and following a course.
The deep dive is also a required component of the course. You gain experience diving at greater depths and learn how to approach this safely and consciously.
In addition to navigation and the deep dive you choose another three additional dives. This allows you to tailor the course to your interests.

The night dive must be reserved in advance and is only possible when the schedule allows. This option is not available from August 19 through October 12, 2026 due to our team vacation.
After successfully completing the five Open Water dives, you receive your official SSI Advanced Open Water certification .
You do not need to arrange diving equipment or learning materials yourself. We make sure everything is ready for your course, so you can focus fully on expanding your diving experience.
You only need to bring your swimwear, towel, water and lunch.
You already have your Open Water certification. Now it is time to gain more experience, discover new skills and experience different types of diving.
You complete the entire course with only your own party and one dedicated SSI instructor. This provides plenty of room for personal guidance during every dive and allows us to adapt the course to your experience and pace.
Would you like to look back on your Advanced dives later? An additional instructor joins you underwater during your dive to take photos and videos of your dive.
This gives you a great memory of your Advanced Open Water course without your course instructor having to focus on photography.

The SSI Advanced Open Water course is designed for divers who want to further expand their experience and skills. You complete five Open Water dives during which you discover different diving experiences and skills. The course builds on your previous diving experience and goes beyond Open Water level.
You have a valid Open Water certification or an equivalent internationally recognized diving certification. The Advanced Open Water course is a continuing education course and is therefore not intended as a first diving course.
The minimum age for the Advanced Open Water course is 12 years. In addition, you must hold a valid Open Water certification or an equivalent internationally recognized diving certification.
You do not need to have dived immediately before the course, but it is important that you feel comfortable in the water and have sufficient basic experience. If you have not dived for a longer period, a refresher or refresher dive may be more appropriate before starting the Advanced course.
The course consists of five Open Water dives. Navigation and the deep dive are required components of the course. You can choose the remaining three dives from various available specialty components that match your interests.

No. The Advanced Open Water course consists of Open Water dives. The exercises and skills are performed directly during the dives in the ocean.
The course consists of five dives and can be spread over several days depending on the schedule. We coordinate the schedule with you in advance so the course fits well with your stay in Curaçao.
To participate, you need an active SSI account required. Through MySSI you can complete the required digital learning materials and preparation. Also make sure that your medical information and other SSI documents are in order before you start the course.
The course includes the required SSI learning materials, guidance from a certified instructor, five Open Water dives, use of the required diving equipment, transportation to the dive sites, the SSI Advanced Open Water certification and the digital logbook. The course price includes 9% OB sales tax.
Yes. Night Diving & Limited Visibility is an optional add-on at an additional charge. The current surcharge is listed in the course information.
Yes. You can use our optional Photo & Video Service . An additional instructor joins the dive to take photos and videos of you. Advance reservation is recommended.
To participate, your medical statement must be in order. Depending on your answers on the SSI medical questionnaire, medical clearance from a physician may be required before you can dive. More information can be found on our page about the medical statement .
Safety always comes first. We discuss in advance which dives are appropriate for your experience, certification level, wishes and the conditions. If a particular dive is not responsible due to the conditions, we look for a suitable solution within the program.
Bring your swimwear, a towel, sufficient water and lunch with you. We provide the required diving equipment and the other materials included with the course.
With your Advanced Open Water certification you have gained more experience with different types of diving and can continue developing your diving skills. From here, you can continue with various SSI Specialties.
No. The Advanced Open Water course is a continuing education course in which you gain new diving experience and skills. If you have not dived for a longer period and want to refresh your basic skills first, a refresher or refresher dive is more suitable.
Yes. During the VIP Advanced Open Water Course you dive exclusively with your own party and one dedicated SSI instructor. No unfamiliar students are added to your group, and we can adapt the guidance as much as possible to your pace, experience and wishes.
